In 1936, the publishers of TIME magazine purchased from another publisher the rights to the name LIFE and began weekly publication of the famed periodical.
LIFE was living history. In its early issues it covered news from Hitler's advances to the latest Bette Davis film.
The publication ran weekly through 1972. From the end of 1978 until a
few years ago, LIFE published monthly issues. Today you will
find special issues, as well as LIFE supplements in certain weekly
newspapers.
Many LIFE magazines have sports figures (Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio,
Muhammad Ali), musicians ( the Beatles, Sinatra, Streisand), celebrities (Audrey Hepburn, the Kennedys, Marilyn Monroe, Lucille Ball).
There are patriotic covers (the US Flag after Pearl Harbor, the Statue of Liberty), stirring covers of soldiers and events during World War II, and Vietnam.
Then there is the weekly cover that will commemorate that special
birthday.
Whether you give an issue of LIFE as a special gift, or get several to hang on your wall, check with A Stage In Time to see what is available.
We have 11" by 14" box frames which make for a good display. The
frame can be easily opened to remove the magazine. If we do not have the issue in stock, we are able to take requests and will attempt to locate a specific date.
Please email, call or visit to see what LIFE may be in store for you!
Prices range from $25, to over $100 for the rarer sports or celebrity issue.
We also have a limited variety of LOOK, TIME, Saturday Evening POST, and periodicals prior the 1936 LIFE. |
